Koja Urban Village Intensifies COVID-19 Vaccination Education and Services

Koja Urban Village, North Jakarta, continues to intensify COVID-19 vaccination and education for elderly residents in the region.

Until now, about 400 of total 16,000 elderly residents in Koja Urban Village have received vaccination

Koja Urban Village Head, Frimelda Novarita conveyed that at first, many elderly residents who refused to be vaccinated because of hoax issues circulating on social media.

"Thus we collaborate with health center and cadres to educate and socialize elderly people that the vaccination is safe. Over time, our efforts have paid off, because they realize the importance of COVID-19 vaccination as an effort to prevent COVID-19 spread," she explained, Saturday (3/20).

Moreover, her side also facilitates elderly with shuttle service to vaccination location. Her side uses operational service vehicles belonging to urban village and Satpol PP to transport the elderly.

"Until now, about 400 of total 16,000 elderly residents in Koja Urban Village have received vaccination. We also plan to provide dynamic vaccination at Koja Urban Village next week," she mentioned.

Johani (65), an elderly resident of Koja Urban Village who has been vaccinated admitted he was worried about vaccination. But after received socialization and heard firsthand the testimonies from other elderly people who had been vaccinated saying that vaccine was safe, he became convinced and wanted to be injected with COVID-19 vaccine.

"Thank God, I have been vaccinated. It turns out I don't feel anything and my body is fine. For other elderly people, let's make this vaccination program successful to avoid COVID-19 spread," he said.
